Precision in Every Casting: A Look Inside Our Lost Wax Casting Process 1

2025-12-18

Since 2006, Wuxi Junteng Fanghu Alloy has been a trusted name in designing and manufacturing high-quality heat treatment fixtures and furnace alloy parts. As a leading alloy steel casting foundry in China, we specialize in lost wax casting and centrifugal casting, delivering cost-effective solutions for the heat treatment industry.

Our heat treatment fixtures and furnace alloy parts—including tubes, retorts, rollers, and more—serve customers in 48+ countries, thanks to our innovative designs and reliable performance.

Today, we’re excited to take you behind the scenes of our lost wax casting process—a method known for its precision.

Step 1: Mould Design & Manufacturing

The mould acts as the "negative" of the final casting. Our FH technical team designs the tooling, which is then precision-manufactured using advanced processing machines to ensure flawless replication.

Step 2: Wax Model Creation & Tree Assembly

Liquid wax is injected into the mould, cooled, and ejected to form a perfect wax replica of the final product. These wax models are then assembled onto a wax tree, complete with a casting funnel—where molten steel will later flow to create the finished part.

Step 3: Build Ceramic Layers

After constructing the wax tree and pouring/feeding system, the wax model is dipped into a slurry tank to apply multiple layers of fireproof ceramic. These layers are then allowed to air-harden for added strength.

Step 4: Dewax

Once the ceramic shell is completely dry, the wax is melted out using steam in a dewaxing kettle—this is where the term "lost wax casting" originates! The majority of the molten wax is reclaimed and reused, making this process sustainable.

Step 5: Shell Baking

The ceramic shells are then baked at high temperatures in our state-of -art baking furnaces, reaches its final strength.

Step 6: Casting

The desired steel alloy is melted by our advanced intermediate frequency electric furnaces. The ceramic shell is, at the same time, heated in a oven to prevent thermal shocks during the pouring process. After the molted steel is poured into the ceramic shell, the shell is cooled down at room temperature.

We hope this glimpse into our lost wax casting process has provided valuable insights into the precision and care that defines our work at Wuxi Junteng Fanghu Alloy. Our commitment to quality and sustainability ensures that every component we produce meets the highest standards of performance for our customers across 48 countries.
